Opened in 1995, the Taj Mahal has been providing Halifax with a Unique and Delicious brand of dining. Over the years chef Sam has perfected his recipe's offering delectible and authentic Indian food.
We are located on 5175 South Street in Halifax Nova Scotia between Barrignton street and Hollis street near the Westin Hotel.
Our hours of operation are Monday to Thursday 11:30am to 10:30pm, Friday from 11:30am to 11:30pm, Saturday 12:00pm to 11:00pm and Sunday from 12:00pm to 10:30pm.

India, with an ancient culture and heritage, has inherited a variety of cuisine-incomparable & unsurpassable.
What makes eating Indian food a gastronomic adventure is the sheer diversity. Curry is not the name of a dish-rather it encompasses a whole class of dishes cooked with chicken, meat, seafood, homemade Cheese and vegetables using various special recipes: mild, medium & hot.
The Emperors of the Moghul Empire apart from hunting, bird watching, pedigree tigers, classical music & dancing were absolute connoisseurs of exquisite food. Their several chefs would have been experts in several dishes. Jealously guarded secrets and precious recipes often were handed down from father to son. These secret combinations of spices are what make one dish totally different taste from the other.
Taj Mahal offers you Authentic Cuisine with distinct taste, unparalleled presentation in a classy ambience. An almost indispensable feature of Taj Mahal is the traditional imported Tandoors from India (clay ovens fired with charcoal). Our special home-ground spices wield the culinary magic of our exceptional cooking without MSG or preservatives & our Chefs from Northern and Southern India, New Delhi & Punjab are masters of these recipes and dishes.
Taj Mahal takes pride in its menu that has culled from the sumptuous Moghul cuisine, the wholesome Punjabi flare, the robust cuisine of Kashmir, the fiery dishes of Delhi and Bombay, the hot spicy recipes of Goa & Madras, not forgetting the earthy delights of the Tandoor all for discerning lovers of authentic cuisine. Tandoor is a clay oven which you can only get in India. It BBQ’s, Smokes & Roasts the meats and seafood to perfection, with a real BBQ taste due to hardwood charcoal. The Naan & Roti are cooked on the clay walls of the Tandoor.
We do not use animal fat, MSG or preservatives. All meats are lean and fresh, vegetables are fresh & crispy. In other words, you are enjoying a very Unique, Tasty and Very Healthy Innovative Cuisine.
